ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Bureau of Land Management Rio Puerco Field Office is seeking volunteers for its upcoming National Public Land Day events on Sept. 22. In recognition of this annual observance, the BLM will conduct cleanup work on BLM land located north of Bluewater Creek Area of Critical Environmental Concern.
In concert with other events around the country, the BLM is encouraging the public to join BLM staff in making a difference for public land resources they use and value. Volunteers will perform work on reclamation in areas that have been subjected to illegal dumping of tires, cans and household debris.
Those interested should meet at 9 a.m. at the Baca/Prewitt Chapter House which is located south of Interstate 40, off of Exit 63. Take first right onto Pillow Crest Rd. and follow signs. The Chapter House will be on your right. After meeting at the Chapter House, volunteers will travel about one mile to the project area. Please bring sunglasses, a hat, a light jacket, water bottle, work gloves and sturdy footwear.
