Volunteers partner with BLM to complete projects on the 3rd annual Desert Dace Day

WINNEMUCCA, NV - The Bureau of Land Management BLM, Winnemucca District, Black Rock Field Office and their partners hosted the 3rd annual National Public Lands Day event at Soldier Meadows on September 28-30. The 3 day event included completing public lands service projects, 2 days of overnight camping, a Dutch oven cook off.

Winnemucca District staff; partner groups Friends of Nevada Wilderness, Friends of Black Rock High Rock, and Nevada Outdoor School staff and volunteers help complete 5 projects which included, protecting the Desert Dace habitat by vegetation treatment, collecting water quality data, restoring the Soldier Meadows Cabin, campgrounds cleanup, and installed a road closure barrier. This free event also included breakfast provided by both Friends groups

“It is great to have so many volunteers and groups support this annual event to help make a difference," said Black Rock Field Manager Mark Hall. “I am grateful for all volunteers that help make this event very productive while still having fun."
