ELKO, Nev. - Bureau of Land Management Elko District seasonal fire restrictions which have been in effect since Aug. 2, 2018 have been lifted.

The Mountain-City-Ruby Mountains-Jarbidge Ranger District has not rescinded their restrictions nor has the Elko County Fire Protection District.

The Bureau of Land Management Elko District reminds all visitors to public lands to carry a shovel, water and a fire extinguisher when building a campfire and traveling across public lands.

“We have had a little moisture this month, but the vegetation is still extremely very dry and will ignite very quickly, “ said Clint Mothershead, Fire Mitigation Specialist for the Elko District. “ We are asking the public to be cautious while they participate in fall recreation activities."
