BLM calls for applications for one fishing guide permit along North Platte

The following press releases was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management on March 8, 2019. It is reproduced in full below.

CASPER, Wyo. - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Casper Field Office is releasing a call for applications from interested commercial fishing guides in conformance with the number of commercial fishing guide permits in the 2006 Trappers Route Special Recreation Management Area (SRMA) Plan.

The BLM will be adding up to one new commercial fishing guide permit for the Grey Reef to Casper section of the North Platte River. The BLM is committed to serving as a facilitator of opportunities for the development of commercial recreation on our public lands that create jobs that help local communities grow.

Since the signing of the Trappers Route SRMA Plan in 2006, some permit-holders canceled or withdrew their permits. In December, the BLM released a prospectus to issue up to three new commercial fishing guide permits on the North Platte River. Due to the lack of complete application packets, the BLM is issuing another prospectus to issue the remaining commercial fishing guide permit allowed under the 2006 Trapper Route SRMA Plan.

The prospectus and application are available online at www.blm.gov/2019-North-Platte-Prospectus.

Members of the public with questions and interested fishing guides wishing to apply for a commercial fishing guide permit can contact Tammy Owens at taowens@blm.gov. Permit applications are due by 4:30 p.m. on March 29, 2019.
