Trego Hot Springs Recreation Area road closure

The following press releases was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management on March 18, 2019. It is reproduced in full below.

WINNEMUCCA, Nev. -- Due to recent flooding and a stuck vehicle, the roads into Trego Hot Springs Recreation Area are temporarily closed. Moisture in recent weeks has caused flooding of sections of the road into Trego Hot Springs. The railroad crossing at Trego is still passable. Driving off road through Trego Hot Springs is not permitted.

"While the BLM realizes this is an inconvenience to people wanting to visit the hot springs, the roads need to be closed to prevent damage to archaeological resources and sensitive plant species," said Mark Hall, Black Rock Field Manager.

"The hot springs are still open for visitation by the public but only accessible by foot."
