BUFFALO, Wyo. - The Bureau of Land Management Wyoming today published a draft supplemental environmental impact statement that augments analysis for the 2015 Buffalo Field Office Approved Resource Management Plan. The BLM is preparing this analysis in response to an order from the U.S. District Court in Montana, which directed the BLM to supplement the approved RMP through an analysis that considers reducing available coal and accounts for impacts from climate change and downstream combustion.
The BLM will accept public comment on the draft supplemental EIS until August 15. The draft supplemental EIS provides updated information and additional analysis to guide land use planning decisions on coal, oil and gas, and to determine what federal coal should be made available for leasing.
The BLM will provide the planning documents and a portal to submit comments at the project’s ePlanning website, https://go.usa.gov/xP6S3. On June 27 from 4 to 7 p.m., the BLM will hold a public meeting at the Campbell County Library in Gillette, Wyo., to answer questions and provide more information on the project.
