CARSON CITY, Nev. - The Bureau of Land Management, Carson City District, is asking the public to avoid a fuels treatment project area taking place at the southern half of Winters Ranch in Washoe Valley. This fuels reduction project consists of using approximately 1200 head of sheep to reduce grasses in this area to lower wildfire risk. BLM recommends recreational dog walkers have their dogs on a leash for the safety of all animals in the area and avoid the southern portion of Winters Ranch.

The fuels project began on Monday and is expected to last for approximately four to five weeks until fuels reduction objectives are met.
