SANTA FE, NM - In keeping with Secretary Bernhardt’s Secretarial Order 3373 which prioritizes increasing outdoor recreation opportunities for all Americans, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is seeking public comment on a lease of public land to facilitate development of the Santa Fe River Trail Project in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Santa Fe County has submitted a recreational and public purpose application to the BLM to lease and eventually purchase 23.39 acres of public lands for the non-motorized recreational trail.
The City and County of Santa Fe are coordinating to develop the Santa Fe River Trail as a multi-use recreational trail along the Santa Fe River. The master plan for this trail runs along the river from Alto Park, at Camino Alire, south and west of the Veteran’s Memorial Highway (NM599) crossing. The Santa Fe River Trail project will serve the local and surrounding communities while providing access to a variety of high-quality open space and protecting natural resources along the River by focusing use along the trail.
