REDDING, Calif. - Seasonal closures for three Bureau of Land Management campgrounds along the Trinity River in northern California go into effect Monday, Oct. 28, while two other campgrounds will remain open for winter camping.
The Douglas City, Junction City and Steel Bridge sites will close for the winter. The BLM will reopen the campgrounds when conditions allow next spring.
The Shasta and Steiner Flat campgrounds will remain open through winter.
The Shasta Campground, within the Chappie-Shasta Off Highway Vehicle Area near Shasta Dam, offers 27 sites for tents and RV camping. The fee is $10 per night. The campground offers excellent access to 200 miles of roads and trails for motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles and four-wheel-drive vehicles.
Steiner Flat is a primitive campground in the forest along the Trinity River near Douglas City. It offers eight sites suitable for tents or small trailers. There is no fee.
