BLM’s Holter Lake tent camping temporarily closed during trail work

The following press releases was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management on Aug. 21, 2020. It is reproduced in full below.

(BUTTE, Mont.) -As the trail system around the Bureau of Land Management’s Holter Lake Campground gets a fresh look, the tent camping area of the recreation site will be closed Aug. 31 to Sept. 11.

Crews will repave sections of damaged asphalt trails around the campground, so the tent area will be closed for public safety during this time.

Parking at the agency’s Holter Lake site will also be limited during this time, and there will be periodic closures of the boat ramp, vault toilets, beach area, and trails.

“Most of these closures will only be for a few hours at a time, but we want visitors to be aware ahead of time so they can be flexible with their plans," said Brandon Anderson, a civil engineer with the Butte Field Office.
