Public Lands Closed within the Swiftwater Field Office Due to Fire

The following press releases was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management on Sept. 12, 2020. It is reproduced in full below.

Roseburg, Ore. - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Roseburg District, has closed public lands east of I-5, within the Swiftwater Field Office, until the Archie Creek fire is declared controlled. The lands are located in Douglas and Lane County, Oregon.

This closure is necessary to protect public land users from risks associated with active wildland fire, fire suppression, suppression repair, emergency stabilization, and burned area rehabilitation. The closure is also needed to protect wildland firefighters from recreational activities that could interfere with fire suppression.

The public must not enter the closure area. All uses within the closure area are prohibited. Exceptions to these prohibitions are noted under Supplemental Information at the link below.

This closure will remain in effect until such time as conditions allow for safe use of the public lands.
