MOAB, Utah - The BLM Moab Field Office plans to release and begin a 30-day public comment period for the Canyon Rims Travel Management Area Environmental Assessment (EA) from October 14 through Nov. 15, 2020.
The document analyzes a motorized transportation network in the Canyon Rims Travel Management Area to serve visitors and local communities, while protecting and sustaining natural resources. The EA addresses topics related to motorized travel, including recreation, cultural resources, wildlife and fisheries habitat, soil and water quality, and wilderness characteristics. The study area covers approximately 90,950 acres of BLM-managed lands in northern San Juan County, Utah.
“Public input will help ensure the final travel management plan for the Canyon Rims Travel Management Area meets the needs of the local community and the recreating public," said Moab Field Manager Nicollee Gaddis-Wyatt.
Written comments may be mailed, emailed, or submitted through ePlanning. Written comments will be accepted by letter or email until November 15. Please note that the most useful comments are specific and contain new technical or scientific information relevant to the proposed action. Comments which contain only opinions or preferences will not receive a formal response but may be considered in the BLM decision-making process. Please reference Canyon Rims when submitting comments.
