The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Tonopah Field Office, Battle Mountain District, is seeking public comment on an Environmental Assessment that analyzes an application by Major Oil International LLC. to drill an exploratory oil well, Eblana 9, approximately 18 miles north of Warm Springs, Nevada, in Hot Creek Valley.
The public comment period ends October 30. The proposal includes an off-lease access road right of way, on-lease access road, well pad and reserve pit construction. The maximum area of surface disturbance, including the Right of Way application, would be 9.8 acres.
“It’s important that we get as many substantive comments as possible for these EAs to make sure we fully analyze every possible impact of these projects," Said Perry Wickham, Tonopah Field Office manager. Comments can be submitted via the eplanning.
The EA, titled DOI-BLM-NV-B020-2020-0043, can be viewed on the BLM NEPA Register website, using Chrome, Edge, Safari, or Firefox, at https://go.usa.gov/xGrYh. Comments must be online at the NEPA Register site or emailed to: BLM_NV_BMDO_TFO_NonRenewable@blm.gov.
