SUSANVILLE, Calif. - Crews from the Bureau of Land Management will be burning piles of brush, limbs and small juniper trees at various locations in northeast Lassen County during the winter and spring. Smoke could be visible from the Ravendale and Termo areas and along the U. S. Highway 395 corridor.
Pile burning is planned for public lands near Ravendale, Dodge Reservoir and along the Horse Lake Road. The vegetation was piled during rangeland improvement projects designed to improve wildland habitat, livestock grazing conditions and to reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfire.
The BLM conducts prescribed burning in accordance with burn plans that detail the allowable weather and fuel moisture conditions, required personnel and post burn monitoring. Burning will be conducted only when weather conditions allow for safe and successful burning and smoke dispersion.
