Lake Havasu City, Ariz. - The Bureau of Land Management’s Lake Havasu Field Office is seeking a teacher (K-12) for the Teacher on the Public Lands (TPL), Hands on the Land Program for the Lake Havasu Field Office.
TPL teachers work with field office staff to complete site education and youth engagement projects, learn about BLM resources, and develop projects and materials that can be used by BLM employees, other teachers, community volunteers, and youth. The project will last for eight weeks between June and July 2021. The teacher will also receive a $2,200 professional development stipend, paid tuition for a three-credit-hour graduate course at the University of Colorado - Denver, and a once-in-a-lifetime experience promoting hands-on learning through some of America’s most treasured cultural and natural resources.
“The Teacher on Public Lands program provides professional development opportunities for teachers as they share public lands experiences with the community, youth, and students," said Jason West, Lake Havasu Field Manager. “We hope the selected teacher gains valuable insight into area public lands while working to develop outreach and educational programs."
