TUSSOCK FIRE TRANSITIONS TO LOCAL FIREFIGHTERS

FIRE OPERATIONS

Southwest Area Type 1 Incident Management Team #2 led by Dave Bales transitioned back to the local unit at 6:00 a.m. today. This smaller organization will continue to monitor and patrol the Tussock Fire for the next several days. These patrols are used to ensure the fire is completely extinguished. Fire personnel that remain will continue to assist with suppression repairs.

Team 2 would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the community, firefighters and land management agencies associated with the Tussock Fire. This will be the final update, however the incident Facebook page will continue to be populated as needed.

NATIONAL FOREST PUBLIC SAFETY CLOSURE

Today at 6:00 a.m. the Prescott National Forest lifted the Tussock Fire Public Safety Closure. However, Public Lands within the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Hassayampa Field Office remain closed to include the following areas:

1. Castle Hot Springs Road at the Crown King Road (Trail)/Cow Creek Road Junction.

2. Cow Creek Road, the entire length between Table Mesa Road and Crown King Road(Trail)

3. Buckhorn Road (from Constellation Road to Champie Road)

4. Wagoner Road at Hozoni Ranch Road

5. Lake Pleasant Airstrip area
