Summary: At 8:22pm on July 12, 2021, the Color Country Interagency Communication Center received a report of a wildland fire start. Local resources are on scene and aerial resources have been requested. Smoke can be seen from St. George, Utah.

Location: “Lime Fire" located at mile marker 25, Virgin River Gorge
Jurisdiction: Arizona Strip District, Bureau of Land Management
Fire Size: Estimated at 3,000 acres. (Mapping scheduled)
Cause: Under investigation
Closures: None planned. Fire fighters will be working from both the north and south bound lanes to manage the fire. Fire managers ask the public’s assistance to aid in the safety of firefighters by being aware of resources and personnel and driving cautiously in the vicinity of mm25 on Interstate 15.

Fire Crews/Resources: Local resources on scene include 4 Type 3 Engines, 4 Type 6 Engines, 2 Type 2 Initial Attack Crews, 1 Type 1 Crew, 3 Water Tenders. Aerial resources have been requested. Engines from federal agencies include BLM Arizona and BLM Utah, BIA, USFS, and cooperator engines from Beaver Dam, Arizona.
Conditions: Gusty and erratic afternoon and evening winds July 12 created issues with containment. The fire burned actively through the night and picked up intensity in the early morning. Both sides of I-15 have burned. Resources are going direct utilizing aerial resources with retardant and hand crews today.
