Best in the Desert Vegas to Reno Off-Highway Vehicle Race to begin on August 13

The following press releases was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management on Aug. 6, 2021. It is reproduced in full below.

Carson City, Nev - Best in the Desert (BITD) will be holding their annual Vegas to Reno desert off-highway vehicle race beginning on Friday, Aug. 13, at approximately 5:15 a.m., near Bonnie Claire, Nevada with the final participants finishing near the town of Dayton, Nevada, Saturday, Aug. 14, around 11 a.m. The event will be held on public lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management within the Tonopah, Stillwater, and Sierra Front field offices.

Race participants may be using roads that the public uses to access public lands both August 13 & 14, so please plan accordingly. To provide for public safety, BITD race officials will be controlling traffic along the race route and several access roads until the last race vehicle has passed. Participating vehicles include dirt bikes, quads, utility terrain vehicles, and trucks.

Due to aircraft used for filming the race, the use of drones during the event is strongly discouraged since they could interfere with aircraft in the area and pose a public safety issue.
