NCSWIC PTE COMMITTEE RELEASES CHECKLIST FOR COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY IN TRAINING AND EXERCISES

Statewide Interoperability Coordinators (SWICs) and other emergency preparedness personnel may decide to incorporate new and emerging technologies in trainings and exercises. Part of the SWIC’s role is to build systems that allow for the introduction of these new technologies. Trainings and exercises can be the perfect place to introduce new and emerging technologies and to demonstrate how they can be useful in responding to an incident.

The National Council of Statewide Interoperability Coordinators (NCSWIC) Planning, Training, and Exercise (PTE) Committee developed the Checklist for Communications Technology in Training and Exercises to help SWICs understand how incorporating new and emerging technologies can help SWICs and participants experience and evaluate new technologies. The guide details planning and evaluation considerations when using new communications technology in a training or exercise.

The Checklist for Communications Technology in Training and Exercises can be found at cisa.gov/safecom/training-and-exercises. To learn more about the PTE Committee’s work, visit cisa.gov/safecom/training-and-exercises or email NCSWICgovernance@cisa.dhs.gov.
