Today, Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo met with Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs Penny Wong in New York City. During their meeting, the Secretary emphasized the importance of the United States’ and Australia’s partnership and shared interest in a free and open Indo-Pacific region. She and Minister Wong also discussed Australia’s current foreign policy priorities. Raimondo thanked Wong for Australia’s contributions that resulted in the successful first official in-person Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) Ministerial meeting.

The Secretary and Minister also discussed the Australia-United States Strategic Commercial Dialogue, which was launched in March. A business roundtable in March highlighted the need for cooperation in critical mineral supply chains and Raimondo invited investment by Australian companies in the sector.
