The Department of Commerce recently announced the leaders for the newly-established CHIPS for America offices.
The White House and the U.S. Department of Commerce will house these positions, which feature professionals with expertise in finance, accounting and the demands of government accountability, according to a Sept. 20 news release.
“After outlining a thoughtful and comprehensive strategy for CHIPS for America, we are wasting no time building an office with experts and leaders who will efficiently execute this work,” Raimondo said in the release.
Ronnie Chatterji will oversee the CHIPS Implementation Steering Council's activities in his position as the National Economic Council's White House Coordinator for CHIPS Implementation, the release reported. The role falls in accordance with President Joe Biden's Executive Order on CHIPS Implementation. He will collaborate closely with the National Security Council, the Office of Science and Technology Policy, the Department of Commerce and the Steering Council.
Leaders such as Chatterji bring decades of experience to CHIPS for America in government, industry and the research and development space, Raimondo said in the release. They have experience on standing up and implementing large-scale programs. By choosing these leaders, good-paying jobs will be created for the American people. The nation’s supply chains will also get a boost, which will spur investments in research and strengthening national security, she said.
