The Biden-Harris administration and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced $10 million Water Infrastructure Bill funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law grant for the improvement of water infrastructure in Washington, D.C.

The EPA will get more than $50 billion from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to repair the country's vital water infrastructure, which improves resilience, collects and treats wastewater to safeguard public health, reduces pollution and provides communities with access to clean, safe and reliable drinking water, according to a Sept. 23 news release.

"All communities need access to clean, reliable, safe water," EPA Administrator Michael Regan said in the release. “Thanks to President Biden’s leadership and the resources from the historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, we are repairing aging water infrastructure, replacing lead service lines, cleaning up contaminants and making our communities more resilient in the face of floods and climate impacts."

Other EPA officials also praised the plan, believing it meets promises made to the public, the release reported.

"This funding represents 'delivery on a promise' that the Biden administration made to help our communities most in need of clean drinking water and programs to control contaminants and harmful stormwater runoff. EPA Mid-Atlantic looks forward to assisting and partnering with D.C. and other states to expedite this critical work," EPA Mid-Atlantic Regional Administrator Michael Ortiz said in the release.
