Bills addressed by Finance Committee on Sept. 29

The Finance Committee handled H.R.3482 bill on Sept. 29, according to the US Congress.

Bill H.R.3482 titled “National Center for the Advancement of Aviation Act of 2022” was received in the Senate and Read twice and referred to the Committee on Finance by the Senate. The bill is sponsored by Rep. Andre Carson. Additionally, the center may issue grants to organizations that have experience in, and knowledge of, creating, developing, and delivering or updating (1) high school aviation curricula; or (2) aviation curricula used at institutions of higher education, secondary educations institutions, or by technical training and vocational schools.

Most bills have a hearing where those involved explain why they are for or against the bill. Roughly 8,000 bills are addressed by committees each year but only about 800 make it to the floor of Congress, according to ushistory.org.

A 2019 report from the Brookings Institute argued committees aren’t capable of delving fully into the issues they address and are forced to rely on lobbyists.
