Crown Point Man Sentenced To 24 Months In Prison

Robert McMahon, 32, of Crown Point, Indiana was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Philip P. Simon on his plea of guilty to possession of child pornography, announced United States Attorney Clifford D. Johnson.    

McMahon was sentenced to 24 months in prison followed by 3 years of supervised release. 

According to documents filed in the case, between March 2019, and August 2021, McMahon possessed images of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct including images of at least one minor under the age of 12. 

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation with assistance from the Indiana State Police and the Winnebago County Sheriff’s office in Wisconsin. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Thomas M. McGrath.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood. In 2006, the Department of Justice created Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from exploitation and abuse. Led by the U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the DOJ’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children, as well as identify and rescue victims.
