Increase in Visitation for December 2005

Petrified Forest, AZ - Park Superintendent Lee Baiza announced the visitation for December was up by 16% over last year with 27,234 visits compared to last year’s 23,512. The year ended up by 3% with a total of 598,498.

The unusually dry weather has encouraged more people to visit the park this winter. No moisture has fallen as either snow or rain in December and only a trace of snow fell in November.
