Shackleford Banks Welcomes New Arrival

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on April 24, 2006. It is reproduced in full below.

Harkers Island, North Carolina. Cape Lookout National Seashore Superintendent Bob Vogel announces the birth of this new filly, born mid-April, a welcome arrival. She is particularly important because her dam’s (mother’s) line is less well represented on the island than many other lines. Natural selection may allow this youngster to grow up and help produce the next generation of Shackleford horses.
