Increase in Visitation for April 2006

Petrified Forest, AZ - Park Superintendent Lee Baiza announced the visitation for April was up by 4% over last year with 48,594 visits compared to last year’s 46,701. The year-to-date total is 137,844 which is up by 1.6% from last year.

Typical spring days on the Colorado Plateau are warm and sunny but also typical are high winds. Wind gusts over 40 mph are common during wind advisories. At this time of year visibility can be obscured by blowing dust and high profile vehicles must use extra caution.
