The University of Maine will be holding their annual Forestry Camp at Acadia National Park for the seventeenth consecutive year. From May 21 through June 3 the students will be participating in several projects: restoring historic vistas on the carriage road near Cliffside and West Branch bridges; conducting forest stand inventories and timber management on Ironbound Island; and documenting mountaintop scenic vistas with photographs. Besides these hands-on projects, students will discuss resource protection and management issues and receive wildland firefighter training. The carriage road vista work will not require any closures which would affect park visitors.
