The 2007 draft off-highway motor vehicle grant application for the Desert Manager’s Group Tortoise Education and Outreach Project is available for public review at the Oasis Visitor Center in Twentynine Palms. This application will be a component of a larger grant package, being submitted by the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) California Desert District Office in Moreno Valley.
Paper or electronic copies of the application may be requested from either office. Application summaries will also be posted by July 1 on the BLM California website. Final applications to the California State Parks Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division are due by Aug. 1, 2006. Any public comments received will be included in the final grant application.
The Bureau of Land Management applies for grants from the California Department of Parks and Recreation's Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division each year to help fund and coordinate its off-highway vehicle (OHV) program. The grants support OHV management activities such as law enforcement, resource protection, planning and monitoring, visitor services, education and outreach, and maintenance on BLM lands throughout the state.
