Clean-up Also Scheduled
On Saturday, Sept. 30, all entrance fees into Lake Mead National Recreation Area will be waived in honor of the 13th Annual National Public Lands Day. The National Park Service is joining other federal land agencies (U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, the Bureau of Land Management, and the U.S. Forest Service) also waiving their entrance fees to celebrate National Public Lands Day.
Additionally, the Southern Nevada Interagency Volunteer Program, Get Outdoors Nevada, is sponsoring a clean-up at Lake Mead on Saturday, September 30. The clean-up will be held from 8-11:30 a.m. at the northern end of Boulder Beach. On Sept. 23, a clean-up will be held at Red Rock Canyon National Recreation Area. Lunch will be provided to volunteers who pre-register by calling 895.5734 or www.getoutdoorsnevada.org.
“Residents and visitors in Southern Nevada are really fortunate to have so many varied recreational opportunities provided by public lands surrounding the valley. We would like individuals and/or groups to participate in one of the clean-ups this month. We also hope people will take advantage of the entrance fee waiver and bring their friends and family members out to enjoy their public lands here at Lake Mead National Recreation Area or other federal lands in the valley," said Superintendent Bill Dickinson.
All entrance fees into the park will be waived, but the lake use fee for vessels will still be charged September 30.
