Open House for Proposed Entry Fee

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on March 27, 2007. It is reproduced in full below.

Please join staff members of the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail as they share information and seek comments about a proposed entrance fee at the Missouri River Basin Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center (Interpretive Center). The open house will be held at the Interpretive Center on April 6 and 7, 2007, from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., in Nebraska City, Nebraska.

If approved, the proposed $5.00 fee would become effective Jan. 1, 2008. The fee would not apply to anyone 15 years of age or under. The Interpretive Center will continue to serve educational groups at no charge and will honor the America the Beautiful Passes, National Parks Passport, Golden Age Passport and Golden Access Passport.

Up to 80 percent of the fees collected will remain at the Interpretive Center, going directly toward enhancing visitor facilities and programs.

The Missouri River Basin Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center is located at 100 Valmont Drive in Nebraska City, Nebraska. For directions, visit the Interpretive Center website at http://www.mrb-lewisandclarkcenter.org or call (402) 874-9900. Trail staff will be available throughout the open house to receive your comments and answer questions about the proposed fee.
