Richmond National Battlefield Park, in cooperation with the Department of Veterans Affairs, is sponsoring a Memorial Day program to honor and remember those who have died in our nation's service-especially those soldiers and sailors from the Civil War. This annual event is scheduled for Monday, May 28, at 12:00 noon, at the Fort Harrison National Cemetery, on the Fort Harrison battlefield. The cemetery is located on the Varina Road, two miles south of Route 5 and eight miles south of Richmond.

This year's speaker is Dr. Wesley C. Wilson, a retired U. S. Army lieutenant colonel. Dr. Wilson accumulated more than 21,000 hours of flying time during his career with army aviation, including 1500 combat flight hours in Korea and Vietnam. He is an authority on several of the men who received Medals of Honor for valor during the Civil War at the Battle of New Market Heights just southeast of Richmond.

The public is invited to attend this free event.
