Numerous programs are beginning for the summer season at Rocky Mountain National Park. The following evening programs will be held at the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center auditorium and are free and open to the public.
Thursday, June 28, 7:30 p.m. - Humming Along: Rocky’s Hummingbirds
Join Fred and Tena Engelman as they discuss the hummingbird research they have done over the past few years in Rocky Mountain National Park. They will share great photos and their findings about the importance of the park to hummingbirds. This is part of the Science Behind the Scenery series, which will be held every Thursday night through the summer.
Friday, June 29, 7:30 p.m. - Those Amazing Mammals
Rocky Mountain National Park has a diverse population of mammals. In this illustrated program, come and learn the role each mammal plays in the park and how they interact.
Saturday, June 30, 7:30 p.m. - The Pika - Heir of the Ice Age
Rocky’s severe alpine tundra is home to the Pika, a small ultra-cute hare & leftover from the Ice Age. Specifically adapted to the frigid alpine environment, the Pika’s habitat could be impacted by climate change.
Sunday, July 1, 7:30 p.m. - If You Build It, They Will Come
Trail Ridge Road, the highest continuous paved road in the nation, is 75 years old! In this illustrated presentation, celebrate the history and grandeur of this road, which has excited visitors for generations.
Thursday, July 5, 7:30 p.m. - Rocky’s Charismatic Little Mammals
Sean Maher is the Rocky Mountain Nature Association Bailey Fellow for 2007. He will talk about chipmunks, rock squirrels, deer mice, pack rats, bushy-tailed wood rats, montane voles, and other small mammals. His research includes recording what mammals are found at various elevations and what diseases they may carry. This is part of the Science Behind the Scenery series, which will be held every Thursday night through the summer.

Squirrels, chipmunks and marmots are some of Rocky’s smaller wildlife - but wild they are! In this illustrated program, come learn about their lifestyle and even hear a “tall tale" about a tiny animal.
Sunday, July 8, 7:30 p.m. - If You Build It, They Will Come
