NPS “Beach Ambassador” Program Final Training Date Scheduled

The final scheduled training date for the NPS pilot "Beach Ambassador" program is set for Saturday, July 21, 2007. The program’s goal is to increase preventative lifesaving efforts through educational materials and personal contacts with the visiting public to Cape Hatteras National Seashore and village beaches. The program will educate and inform the public of potential hazards associated with beach recreation, including rip current awareness.

The park continues to recruit for a cadre of volunteers from the surrounding communities in Dare County. Training on beach and water safety conditions will be provided:

Nags Head Fire Station in Nags Head. Parking is limited. (Park behind the fire station)
