Fort Raleigh National Historic Site General Management Plan Comment Period Extended

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Aug. 2, 2007. It is reproduced in full below.

Superintendent Mike Murray, in conjunction with the Southeast Regional Office, announced today that the public comment period on the preliminary alternatives for the Fort Raleigh National Historic Site (FORA) General Management Plan (GMP) has been extended. The GMP establishes fundamental goals and objectives for the park with regard to protecting and preserving its natural and cultural resources and for providing visitor services and achieving desired visitor experiences.

The National Park Service (NPS) developed a newsletter describing the preliminary alternatives and conducted two open house meetings in June 2007. The public comment period, originally set to close July 31, is now extended to Sept. 30, 2007.

Comments may be provided in writing to: National Park Service, FORA General Management Plan Team, Attention: David Libman, 100 Alabama Street, 1924 Building, Atlanta, Georgia 30303, or through the Internet by directing your web browser (for example, Internet Explorer) to https://parkplanning.nps.gov/meetingNotices.cfm?parkID=380&projectId=10965 and then click on “Open for Public Comments". Comments should be received by Sept. 30, 2007.
