The War In the Western Theater

The National Park Service will partner with the Col. William P. Rogers Camp #321, Sons of Confederate Veterans, to host an evening with noted Civil War historian and author James Lee McDonough on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007 at the Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center. A reception and book signing will begin at 6:00 p.m. according to SCV Camp Commander Buddy Ellis.

“We are pleased to invite the public to come meet Dr. McDonough and hear his presentation “The War in the Western Theater." Dr. McDonough’s formal remarks will begin in the Interpretive Center auditorium at 7:00 p.m.

McDonough, Professor Emeritus of History at Auburn University, has written a number of significant books on the American Civil War, including Stones River-Bloody Winter in Tennessee, Nashville: The Western Confederacy’s Final Gamble, War in Kentucky: From Shiloh to Perryville, and Shiloh: In Hell Before Night.

The Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center, operated as a unit of Shiloh National Military Park, is located at 501 West Linden Street, Corinth Mississippi. The Center is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For information about this event, contact the Center staff at 662-287-9273.
