Road Work on Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive, Expect Delays

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Sept. 20, 2007. It is reproduced in full below.

On Monday, Sept. 24, contractors will begin installing approximately 900’ of median curb near the entrance station of the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive at the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The road work will take place from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. weekdays through October 5. While the drive will remain open, visitors are advised to expect potential delays in the work area. The remaining 6.5 miles of the drive are unaffected by construction. The Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive is a popular tourist attraction especially during the fall color change, so no work will take place on weekends to minimize delays during peak weekend hours.

For more information, contact the Lakeshore headquarters at 231-326-5134.
