On Veteran’s Day, which falls on Sunday, Nov. 11, all U.S. veterans, members of the U.S. armed forces and their families will be admitted free-of-charge to Whiskeytown National Recreation Area and to most public lands managed by the Department of the Interior and the Department of Agriculture.
Superintendent Jim Milestone says, “America owes a great deal to the men and women who have served in the military. It is one small way that we can show them our appreciation for keeping our country free."
The Whiskeytown Visitor Center will be issuing the free entrance passes during its regular opening hours, 10 am to 4 pm, on Sunday. No documentation is required. You may simply state your connection to the military and receive a free pass. The fee-free requirement applies only to the daily entrance fee on November 11.
