WEST GLACIER, MONT. - Glacier National Park’s Crown of the Continent Research Learning Center invites the public to a special presentation by Dr. Joel Berger entitled: "Conservation and Ecological Events: Carnivores, Prey, and Migratory Spectacles in and well beyond the Yellowstone Ecosystem". The talk, framed for the general public, will take place on Thursday, November 8, 2007, at noon in the Community Building in West Glacier.
Berger will discuss new and exciting findings about how the removal and return of wolves and grizzly bears are affecting prey species, such as moose and caribou. He will discuss findings from Yellowstone and Alaska to Greenland and Siberia. Berger will also discuss possible impacts of natural gas development on long-distance migrations to and from parks. He will conclude with a few thoughts about possible climate and/or other research in the Glacier National Park region.
Berger is the newly appointed John J. Craighead Chair of Wildlife Biology at the University of Montana and he has written four books.
