Veterans, Military Personnel, and Their Families Recognized with Free Admission on November 11

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Nov. 7, 2007. It is reproduced in full below.

WEST GLACIER, MONT. - All National Park Service sites, including Glacier National Park, will offer free admission to veterans, current members of the U.S. armed forces, and their families on Sunday, Nov. 11, in honor of Veterans’ Day. Visitors should identify themselves at entrance stations as military personnel; no special documentation is required. Other park user fees, such as camping fees, however, are not waived.

The Apgar Visitor Center is operating on winter hours through the end of April 2008. It is open weekends only from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Weather permitting, several roads in the park are open to vehicle traffic in November. For specific information on road conditions, visit the park’s road status Web site https://www.nps.gov/applications/glac/roadstatus/roadstatus.cfm. Current road conditions are also available by calling 511, the Montana Department of Transportation Traveler Information System. Visitors outside of Montana can call 1-800-226-7623. Both numbers are toll-free. Select “Glacier Park Tourist Information" from the main menu to hear Glacier’s road report.

The fee waiver applies to all land managed by the U.S. Department of the Interior and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The current 7-day vehicle entrance fee to Glacier National Park, valid from Nov. 1, 2007, to April 30, 2008, is $15.
