Closure to Manage Damaged Reef Sites Announced

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on May 2, 2008. It is reproduced in full below.

Effective immediately, the following areas, located south of Pacific Reef Channel are closed to all public entry except to those individuals with a special use permit. Special use permits can be applied for by contacting Biscayne's Visitor Protection Office at 305-230-1144 ext 3043. The closures are being made to facilitate National Park Service case management and control of damaged sites, and will remain closed until further notice.

The coordinates (UTM 17N NAD 83, units of meters) of the four corners of each closed area are as follows:

Area 1:
