Richmond National Battlefield Park, in cooperation with the Department of Veterans Affairs, is sponsoring a Memorial Day program to honor and remember those who have died in our nation's service-especially those soldiers and sailors from the Civil War. This annual event is scheduled for Monday, May 26, at 12:00 noon, at the Fort Harrison National Cemetery, on the Fort Harrison battlefield. The cemetery is located on the Varina Road, two miles south of Route 5 and eight miles south of Richmond.
C. Hobson Goddin, a World War Two veteran of the Pacific Theater and a retired Richmond lawyer, will speak at the cemetery. Mr. Goddin was the Vice-Chairman of the Richmond Civil War Centennial Committee and has been a popular local speaker on Civil War topics for half a century.
The public is invited to attend this free event.
