Coming to
Lowell National Historical Park
Over 50 members of the National Park Travelers Club from throughout the country will expand their passion for the parks and the telltale “National Park Passport" cancellation stamps as the Club arrives in Lowell to visit Lowell National Historical Park for their annual conference on August 1-3. The club provides networking and recognition opportunities for visitors to America’s National Park System. In addition, the club acts to support and expand appreciation of the National Park System.
The National Park Travelers Club will hold their business meeting on Saturday at 1:00 pm. Nine members of the Club who have visited all 392 units of the a National Park Service will be recognized by the National Park Service via letters from NPS Director Mary Bomar.
As a means of documenting their National Park travels, visitors can collect park cancellation stamps from each site to put in their book. Eastern National sells a passport book for the National Parks. The stamp usually includes the date of the visit and the site name. Each year a sheet of sticker stamps of different park sites is produced to incorporate into the passport booklet. Eastern National is the cooperating association and operates sales outlets at Lowell National Historical Park and many other park units.
Due to popular demand Lowell NHP has added new site specific cancellation stamps for visitors to collect. The locations where stamps are available during each site’s operating hours in Lowell include: Boott Cotton Mills Museum, Mill Girls & Immigrants Exhibit, "River Transformed" Exhibit, Francis Gate/Guard Locks, Moody Street Feeder Gatehouse, Pawtucket Gatehouse, Trolley 1601, Trolley 1602, Trolley 4131, and the Streetcar 966, "Desire".
