NPS Visitor Centers Campgrounds and Beach Closures

The National Weather Service is predicting the effects of Tropical Storm Hanna will reach the Outer Banks Group units, Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Fort Raleigh National Historic Site and Wright Brothers National Memorial, by late Friday evening with storm conditions continuing through Saturday, September 6, 2008.

In anticipation of this weather event, on Friday, September 5th, the Hatteras, BodieIsland, Wright Brothers and FortRaleighVisitorCenters will close at noon. The Oregon Inlet Campground will close at 10:00 a.m. The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse will be closed all day and all Seashore beaches will close at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 5th.

OcracokeIslandVisitorCenter and Campground and the Frisco Campground will remain closed. The Ocracoke Campground reservation system has been temporarily suspended.
