Controlled burns for tamarisk control to take place Friday and Monday

UPDATE: CONTROLLED BURNS FOR TAMARISK CONTROL TO TAKE PLACE FRIDAY AND MONDAY

BOULDER CITY, Nev. - The National Park Service will be conducting controlled burns in the following areas for tamarisk control.

• Valley of Fire Wash (near Overton, Nev.), Friday, Sept. 26 beginning at 11 a.m.

• Confluence of Grapevine and Sacatone Washes (near Lake Mohave), Monday, Sept. 29 beginning at 10 a.m.

Smoke from the Valley of Fire Wash prescribed burn may be visible from Northshore Road near Overton Beach. Closures will be limited to the immediate area of the burns and there should be minimal impact to park visitors.
