Point Reyes National Seashore Lighthouse Road Repairs for October 2008

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Sept. 29, 2008. It is reproduced in full below.

The Point Reyes National Seashore announced today that road repairs to the lighthouse entrance road will take place starting on Tuesday, October 7 and go through Thursday, October 23.

Vintage Paving will be grinding the old pavement to reuse as a base for the new road. Traffic from the intersection of Chimney Rock Road to the Lighthouse Visitor Center will be closed to all vehicle traffic, bicycles and pedestrians starting Tuesday, October 7 through Thursday, October 9 then again the following week from Tuesday, October 14 through Wednesday, October 15 and will also include the South Beach entrance road. Since the Lighthouse stairs and visitor center are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, this would be the least disruptive to the public.

During the week of Oct. 20, there will be two days of striping and installation of reflectors to finalize this job. Striping may require some limited road closures.
