Life Lost at Big Bend National Park

Carole Ford, 65, of Edwardsville, Kansas, died from a heart attack on November 14th while in the Rio Grande Village Campground. Ford was found sitting at her campsite by park volunteers who started CPR and attempted to revive her. Park rangers responded to the scene immediately upon notification and continued unsuccessful attempts to revive her. Rescue attempts included use of an AED, CPR, airway management, and medications.

“We are truly saddened by this tragic death," stated Superintendent William E. Wellman, “and offer our condolences to the Ford family and friends."
