OUTER BANKS GROUP VISITOR CENTERS CLOSE FOR WINTER STORM (Manteo)

As a winter storm sweeps across the Outer Banks of North Carolina, Superintendent Mike Murray announced that all Outer Banks Group visitor centers and WrightBrothersNational Monument will be closed as of 2:30 p.m., Jan. 20, 2009. Park staff will reevaluate weather conditions on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009 and a delayed opening is expected at this time.

As of this morning, the National Weather Service is predicting that Outer Banks Group park units will experience the effects of the winter storm with snow showers, strengthening winds, and icy road conditions as evening temperatures fall.
