Drowning in Cataract Canyon

Page, Ariz. - A 37 year old male drowned Saturday, May 16 while rafting on the Colorado River in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. The accident occurred in Cataract Canyon at a set of rapids known as Big Drop 2. The rapids are located approximately 30 miles upriver from Hite, Utah.

Michael Gregory Don Carlos of Nederland, Colorado was rafting the river with friends when he was thrown from the raft and into the rapids. He was pulled under and drowned when he lost contact with the raft. His body was recovered at the accident site.
