Fort Union National Monument Superintendent to Speak at CCHP

This month’s Gimpses from the Past program will feature Superintendent Marie Sauter of Fort Union National Monument. Sauter has nearly completed three years as the head of the park will provide the community a status of the Monument. The program will be held free to the public at the Santa Fe Trail Interpretive Center/CCHP at 116 Bridge Street in Las Vegas, NM at 7pm on Thursday, July 16th.

New projects have come on line and new visitor opportunities have become main stays at the park. Marie would like to share a bit of the Monument history which ties closely with the local communities and Las Vegas and may not be well known.

This month’s Glimpses of the Past will serve as a Glimpses of the Future, will offer the public an opportunity to learn about current activities at the Monument and will allow the public to ask questions and offer comments.

The “Glimpses of the Past" series of programs are presented to the public free of charge, in cooperation with the National Park Service and the Citizens Committee for Historic Preservation (CCHP). For more information, you may contact Fort Union National Monument at (505) 425-8025, or visit the park website at www.nps.gov/foun.
